- Leading the North American VRU Market through Strategic Partnership with Zeeco
Strategic Supply and Optimization of Dry Screw Vacuum Systems for Vapor Recovery Units (VRU)
Zeeco, Inc. (A global leader in combustion and environmental solutions)
North America (U.S. and Canada)
High-efficiency SS Series Dry Screw Vacuum Pumps optimized for hydrocarbon vapor recovery
The North American downstream sector, particularly terminal and refinery operations, demands the highest levels of reliability and environmental compliance (EPA regulations). Zeeco required a vacuum solution that could:
Prevent seal hardening and internal wear caused by varying hydrocarbon compositions and chemical vapors.
Combat the accumulation of carbon dust and oil vapor mixtures that lead to shaft sleeve abrasion.
Minimize unplanned downtime in high-capacity fuel loading terminals where even a brief failure results in significant economic loss.
Rather than providing generic equipment, NEWSCO-SVC collaborated deeply with Zeeco’s engineering team to implement high-spec, customized upgrades:
Upgraded to high-performance, Flexible Lip Seals and specialized grease to maintain structural integrity under extreme temperature fluctuations.
Integrated a proprietary Teflon barrier system to prevent carbon dust buildup, effectively resolving chronic sleeve-wear issues.
Developed smart control logic tailored for Zeeco’s Carbon Bed VRUs, ensuring maximum hydrocarbon recovery rates (up to 99%) while minimizing energy consumption.
Our commitment to technical refinement and rapid field response has established NEWSCO-SVC as a preferred vacuum partner in the North American market
Our screws and casings have maintained a 100% reliability record, providing Zeeco and its end-users with ultimate confidence.
With the global shift toward Carbon Neutrality, our SS Series is now the standard for replacing legacy systems with high-efficiency VRUs across North American terminals.
The proven synergy between Zeeco’s system integration and NEWSCO-SVC’s pump technology has led to a consistent stream of repeat orders and long-term service contracts.
"Our ability to listen to field feedback and rapidly implement engineering improvements ensures that our vacuum solutions remain the preferred choice for the most demanding refinery applications in North America."
ZEECO’s Vapor Recovery Units (VRU) utilize the Best Available Technology (BAT)—the adsorption of hydrocarbons onto activated carbon.
This versatile process ensures a turndown capability of 0 to 100% flow, regardless of inlet hydrocarbon concentrations.
Efficiently desorb hydrocarbons from the activated carbon beds.
Facilitate the return of recovered product back to loading operations or storage facilities with maximum stability.
While liquid ring or sliding vane pumps can be used, our Dry Screw Vacuum Pumps are increasingly preferred for their oil-free operation and lower maintenance costs.
By integrating SVC's vacuum solutions, ZEECO VRUs achieve impressive recovery rates of up to 99%, recovering approximately 1 to 2 liters of product for every 1,000 liters loaded.
This synergy ensures that our global customers achieve a return on investment (ROI) within just a few short years.
In a typical Vapor Recovery Unit (VRU), hydrocarbon vapors generated from the process are directed into an adsorption system consisting of dual beds.
Initially, the vapor stream enters Adsorption Bed 1, where volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are effectively captured by the adsorbent material. The purified gas is then safely discharged as clean gas.
To ensure continuous operation, the system utilizes a dual-bed switching mechanism. While one bed is in adsorption mode, the other undergoes regeneration. Once Bed 1 becomes saturated, the flow is automatically redirected to Bed 2, and Bed 1 enters the regeneration phase.
During regeneration, the SVC dry screw vacuum pump creates a controlled vacuum environment, enabling efficient desorption of the captured VOCs from the saturated bed. This process ensures complete recovery without contamination or leakage.
The desorbed vapors are then transferred to a recovery section, where they pass through an absorption tower and a cooling system. Here, the vapors are condensed into liquid form and collected as valuable recovered product. Finally, the recovered hydrocarbons are safely transferred to storage, completing the recovery cycle.
